PRIVACY, CLEARLY

Your privacy
matters to us.

One Day keeps your answers and photos on your device.
This policy explains clearly what information is processed and where.

Effective August 17, 2026
01

At a glance

One Day is a journaling app that lets you meet your present self again in the future.

Stored on your device

Your answers, photos, and settings are stored locally on your phone by default.

Answers are not sent to our server

The app downloads one question from Firebase. It does not upload your answers or photos.

Backups are optional

Your .oneday backup is password-encrypted and saved only to a location you choose.

02

Information we process

Content you enter in the appON-DEVICE

We process your answers, answer times, scheduled reveal times, and any photos you optionally attach. This information is stored in the app's local database and private app storage.

Settings and notification informationON-DEVICE

The app processes settings such as question frequency, preferred morning, afternoon, or evening periods, and notification scheduling status on your device.

Question content

The app downloads one randomly selected question document from Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. Your answers, photos, and account information are not sent to Firestore during this process.

Advertising information

Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP addresses, app interactions, diagnostic information, advertising IDs, app set IDs, and similar device identifiers to provide and measure ads and prevent abuse. An approximate location may be inferred from an IP address.

03

How we use information

  • Save and return memoriesTo store your answers and show them to you again after the scheduled period.
  • Provide questionsTo efficiently deliver a variety of questions from Firestore, one at a time.
  • Schedule notificationsTo schedule question notifications within the frequency and time periods you select.
  • Share answer cardsWhen you choose to share, the app turns a question and your answers into an image card. A photo is included only if you choose to include it.
  • Provide advertisingTo display banner ads that support the free service, measure ad performance, and prevent abuse.
04

Third-party services and sharing

One Day does not sell your personal information. The app uses the following services or networks for app features and advertising. Each provider may process information under its own policy.

The Android share sheet opens only when you choose to share an answer card. The information does not pass through a One Day server. Information sent to the external app you select is handled under that app's privacy policy.

Data processed by Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. You can reset or delete your advertising ID through Android settings.

05

App permissions

NotificationsUsed to let you know when a question or a past memory arrives.
Alarms and remindersUsed to schedule question notifications accurately within your selected time periods.
Camera and photo selectionThe camera app or system photo picker opens only when you choose to add a photo. Attaching a photo is optional.
06

Retention and deletion

Your answers, photos, and settings remain on your device until you delete them in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app may also remove the records stored on that device.

A .oneday backup file you create remains in the phone storage or cloud drive location you selected. Uninstalling the app does not delete that backup file. You are responsible for managing and deleting it.

Google retains advertising-related information according to Google's privacy policy and product settings.

07

Security measures

  • Answers and photos are stored in the app's private local storage.
  • Backup files are encrypted using AES-GCM with a password you choose.
  • Your backup password is never stored on or sent to a One Day server. A forgotten password cannot be recovered.
  • Connections to external services use encrypted network communication.
08

How to back up and restore

Your answers and photos are stored only on your current phone by default. Before changing phones or uninstalling the app, create an encrypted .oneday backup and keep it in a safe location.

  • 1. Export a backupIn One Day, open Settings → Memory backup → Export backup, then choose a password of at least six characters.
  • 2. Save it safelySave the oneday_backup_date.oneday file to your phone, Google Drive, or another location you choose. Attached photos are included in the file.
  • 3. Import the backupInstall One Day on your new phone, open Settings → Import backup, then select the saved file and enter the original password.

The password is not stored on a server, so a lost password cannot be recovered. Importing a backup replaces the records currently on the device. Export any current records you need before importing.

09

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app features, SDKs, or relevant policies change. We will announce material changes through an app update notice or this page and update the effective date shown above.
